These reproductions are inspired by dolls found in European and American households in the early 1800's. Head, hands and feet are constructed of a durable composition clay. the primitive body is made of muslin. The entire doll has been given an antiqued finish. Hands and feet are attached with ecru ribbon, the upper arms are stuffed and attached to the dress separately. All clay parts on the doll are hand sculpted using no molds. Not a toy. This is an art doll cannot be undressed.
This 18" doll is dressed in an antiqued blue and ecru paisley floral printed gown with a navy blue satin ribbon tied about her bust. Her hair is painted black and sculpted into curl clusters surrounding her face. Her neckline is edged with Venetian lace in which a lace fichu is tucked. Her removable straw bonnet features a gathered lace lining and scrollwork lace. It has a blue satin ribbon tie. Her hands feature painted gloves with real stiffened braid trim. She wears a dangling pair of faceted blue glass bead earrings. Her eyes are brown and detailed.
