This is a set based on an 1810 publication called "The Fall and Rise of Little Fanny" and then "The History of Little Fanny". It was the first documented Regency style paper doll ever mass printed. The accompanying booklet tells her story while the paper dolls illustrate each chapter in the moral tale. Fanny's paper doll likeness has been transformed into an 18" clay doll.

 

The 18" Doll:

These reproductions are inspired by dolls found in European and American households in the early 1800's. Head, hands and feet are constructed of a durable composition clay. the primitive body is made of muslin. The entire doll has been treated to a stained and antiqued finish. Hands are attached with ribbon and feet are attached with ecru ribbon. The upper arms are stuffed and attached to the dress separately. All clay parts on the doll are hand sculpted.

 

  This 18" tall doll wears a gown of antiqued muslin fabric with a rose mauve satin ribbon tiedin the front, and crochet lace trim at the neckline.  Her painted maple blonde hair is sculpted into a crown of curl clusters and more sculpted curls surrounding her face. . Her eyes are painted a beautiful blue. Her slippers are painted a pretty pink (unlike the original illustration).

She holds her favorite doll dressed in a hand dyed yellow muslin, blue ribbon , and painted similar to the small doll illustrated in the paper doll set. 

 She also has a miniature paper doll set , featuring herself. The set includes a story booklet, uncut paper dolls and clothing, folding scene book that follows the story environments of poor Fanny, a brass mini magnifying glass. The Folding book is decorated and has a pocket inside that hold the booklet and paper dolls. A ribbon is included to slide over the book for closure. All peices are antiqued.
