These reproductions are inspired by dolls found in European and American households in the early 1800's. Head, hands and feet are constructed of a durable composition clay. the primitive body is made of muslin. The entire doll has been given an antiqued finish. Hands and feet are attached with ecru ribbon, the upper arms are stuffed and attached to the dress separately. All clay parts on the doll are hand sculpted using no molds. This is an art doll. Not a toy.
This 18" doll is dressed in an antiqued muslin gown with a golden lace neckline. An ecru satin ribbon is tied under her bust. Her sculpted hair is painted blonde and styled in a curly updo with spin curls falling from each side of her head. She wears a golden headpiece with a wispy feathers springing upwards. Her dangling earrings are made of faux pearls. She is painted to give the appearance of wearing gloves on her hands and trimmed with real lace. Her cinnamon russet dress features an asymmetrical swag of golden laces depicting embroidered flowers and foliage. An antiqued feather fan with ribbon is held in her hand, it is removable. Her eyes are painted brown and very detailed.
